Lightbulb A Non-Stealth Ninja Idea

I'd really like to see ninja in the next expension. But NOT a stealth ninja.

So Listen up cuz Here's my idea:

The new class should be called ninjutzu. the ninjutzu's specialties could be that he can wear ITEMS(not Spells) that give overall bonuses to the party members. And now you guys think: who wanna play a class that just supports other? BUT: The ninjutzu have a cool ninja sword and can alot of passive spells that give bonuses to YOU. And they can do very cool attacks like ninja attacks.

What Do you guys Think?? Is it a good idea or just rubbish?

Basically a rogue without stealth. Its a pretty old idea, and i would like to see it since there is only one melee class, but maybe you could be a bit more specific on how the class would work?

A) It's been suggested before, most notable BY YOU. All you've done here is remove the stealth part because people told you it was a bad idea.
B) Having any class that "wears items" for abilities would change the game completely. Or are you suggesting this Ninja put on some item fashion show in the middle of battle? "And here we see Shinobi wearing the Ninja Mask of UBER L33TNE55!"
C) Wait, then you go on to say the he would have passive spells after you said he WOULDN'T have spells... so which is it?
D) Adding anything just because "it would be cool" is a poor reason to add it.
E) If you are going to suggest something like this again, I recommend thinking up a ability and skill chart like the game already has for existing classes. You may end up putting a gem or two in there that could be useful to a real melee class.

Your thread is still on the front page and is off-topic from THIS thread. Don't worry, people will post about your idea. Don't be so quick for validation.

Errrm this is at odds with the core gameplay concepts i.e. a non item orientated system that promotes balance between casual and non casual gamers.

Also to anyone that has trained in ninjitsu, this is idea is a little embarrasing. It seems you have no idea what this martial art entails. If anything ninjas would follow the class ranger/warrior.

I'm of the opinion that there should be no new classes added to the game. I haven't seen any suggestions of new classes to make me think otherwise.

This statement made me lol. Ninjitsu was not a martial art, but a training regime, family tradition, and way of life. Ninjas were spies and information traders that fell back on combat when needed, but were rarely assassins. I question how much ninjitsu training you have to speak from. To be honest, if ANet wants to introduce a realistic ninja class, it wouldn't be be a combat class.

fr3sh, what did that thread you linked have anything to do with this suggestion?

To the OP, I fail to see the connection between ninjas and wearing items that give their team a buff.

It seems to me that the threads with the most posts in regard to classes are often the worst ideas. People stop by to make fun of the obvious. If you have a few, not many, then maybe the idea isn't totally ridiculous.

If you have NO responses, then your idea must be genius. Like mine! *cries*

That's because all class suggestions being made are by 12 year old kids who haven't even thought about game balancing and strategic diversity, rather just "what would be cool".

You are correct in pointing out that it began as a training regime which differed from family to family. Ninjas lived as normal people for the most part, they were people who worked the land for example and were outcasts in society rebuking the feudal system in Japan i.e. the samuri ruling class. One only need look at ninja weapons to verify their lifestyle. Kama for example can be linked to farming implements. You are right in saying Ninjas rarely engaged their opponents too and as a result Ninjas were very good at utilising their immediate environment. If they could make an escape they would. Ninjas would mainly utilise their skills to protect their families and to sometimes manipulate political situations and on the rare occasion hire themselves out as assasins. The philosophies and skills this group of people accumulated were honed over time and eventually came together to form what is now the Martial art of Ninjitsu. This Japanese martial art is headed by 34th Grandmaster Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi.

And for your information I trained in ninjitsu for 2 years. I had to stop due to other commitments i.e. my university Physics course.

Please do not insult me, especially when you have no just cause to and your knowledge is limited.

I feel there is absolutely no need for any new classes, since most of the suggested classes would de-stabalise gameplay. Most RPG character archetypes can be created from the 6 classes given.

Would you be happy if there was just a piece of armor that makes you look like a ninja?

I feel there should be new classes. I have finished the game several times w/ different classes combo. i think I have experimented almost all classes combo and if the expansion will come out it would be nice to try a new one.
